Alpine plants (e.g., bleeding heart flowers)
The Daisetsuzan Mountain Range has a vast alpine zone with alpine plant communities that are unusual in scale and variety. More than 250 species of plants, including some 200 alpine species, are found in the zone, and breathtaking fields of flowers are found everywhere. These alpine plant communities seem to have a haphazard, mosaic-like distribution. In fact, their distribution is closely related to the winds, snow coverage, topography and other features.
